Aperto Networks to increase investment in India
Bangalore, Dec 20 (UNI) The US-based Aperto Networks, builder of the world's most advanced WIMAX Forum Certified base stations and subscriber units, will increase investment in India.
Addressing newspersons here today, company Vice-President (Marketing and Alliances) Manish Gupta said Aperto was increasing its investment in research and development, hardware and software development, sales and customer support, and expanding its channel and technology partnerships across the country.
He said that thanks to its efficiency, time to market and cost advantages, WIMAX was best positioned to serve the huge Indian market in the years to come. ''India is expected to witness an investment of over half a billion US Dollar by the end of 2007 to build infrastructure for broadband connectivity and WIMAX is also looking to invest significantly,'' he added.
Mr Gupta said the WIMAX development centre here was being expanded to thrice its capacity. It managed software as well as hardware development efforts of other Indian technology partners in Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. In addition, Aperto would also set up a customer support centre in the city to provide level-one and level-two support to service providers across the country and elsewhere. Aperto also had plans to establish an India distribution and repair facility, and a manufacturing facility to serve the Indian market in the near future, he added.
