7 killed as bus falls into a ravine; 30 seriously injured

Bharuch, Dec 20 (UNI) At least seven persons, including a woman, were killed and 30 others injured when a state transport bus, going from Surat to Unja rolled over and fell into a deep gorge at Mandava Patia near Hotel Sahyog on the Bharuch-Ankleshwar highway today.

The injured were admitted to Jayaben Modi hospital at Ankleshwar and other private hospitals at Ankleshwar and Bharuch.

The bodies of the seven deceased have been recovered, police said. The bus was traversing a small bridge over the Amravati river when the mishap occurred around 1900 hours. rescue workers said the bus fell into a 80 to 90 feet deep gorge.

The darkness in the area was hampering relief work.

So far, there was no trace of the driver or the conductor, sources said.
