46 TDP MLAs suspended, refuse to return despite revocation
Hyderabad, Dec 20 (UNI) Forty-six Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLAs, including Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu were suspended from Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly today for obstructing the proceedings in the House.
Though the government withdrew the suspension at the request of some opposition leaders and a suggestion from Speaker K R Suresh Reddy, the opposition chose not to attend the proceedings.
The members instead staged a dharna in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi inside the Assembly premises.
The TDP was demanding the resignation or dismissal of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy alleging that his family had illegally acquired thousands of acres of land assigned to the poor.
Mr Naidu said his party would not withdraw its agitation till the Chief Minister quits giving way for a fair inquiry.
The House then took up the discussion on the implementation of the 610 GO without the main Opposition.
