Workshop on state income

Puducherry, Dec 19 (UNI) Puducherry Minister for Economics and Statastics V Vaithilingam has inaugurated a five day training-cum-workshop on 'state income and related aggregates'for statastical personnel of southern states, jointly organised by the central statastical organization, New Delhi and the directorate of economic and statastics, Puducherry.

Speaking on the occasion Mr.Vaithilingam highlighted the importance of national accounts statastics and capital formation,which are indicators of standard of living of the people and are useful for planning, appraisal and assessment of economic development.

He said the statastics on industrial production in the country were deficient due to incomplete registration of records and stressed the need to supply timely and reliable basic data for correct estimation.

Dr.Savitha Sharma, Deputy Director General, Central statastical Organization,New Delhi delivered the Keynote adress.

The workshop would discuss topics such as estimation of district domestic product,district human development indicators and other related matters and estimation of capital formation at state level, among other things.
