Union govt sanctions two National Highways for Himachal
Dharamshala, Dec 19 (UNI) The Union government has granted approval to two National Highways in Himachal Pradesh-- Poanta-Rohru and Nagrota-Mubariqpur.
Both these projects would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1000 crore.
Disclosing this here today, state Tourism and Transport Minister G S Bali said that Union minister for Surface Transport T R Balu had shown his keen interest in getting the two National Highways approved.
He said in order to boost tourism in the state a Tourist Information Center and parking place would be constructed on Matour-Shimla Highway near Old Kangra for the benefit of the tourists. He said that to encourage tourism in Kangra and Chamba districts Rs 18 crore projects were under way in both districts.
He said in view of the increasing road accidents on National Highways, a trauma center would be constructed at Nagrota Bagwan. He said youths in the state would be trained and then appointed as tourist guide in the Tourism department so that tourists could be properly guided.
