Two century partnerships help Mah score 308 against Punjab

Kolhapur, Dec 19 (UNI) Two century partnerships shared by former skipper Hrishikesh Kanitkar helped Maharashtra to score 308 for five against Punjab on the third day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Plate 'B' match at Chhatrapati Shivaji stadium here today.

In reply to Punjab's total of 550, Maharashtra resumed the day's play at the overnight score of 50 for one. Batsmen Dheeraj Jadhav and Hrishikesh Kanitkar did not give any chance to Punjab bowlers and went to lunch without losing any wicket taking the score to 133 by recording hundred runs partnership with individual 50 and 60 runs respectively.

The pair added 20 runs after lunch before Jadhav lost his wicket.

He scored valuable 72 runs. Nikhil Paradkar joined Kanitkar, but he did not stay long in the field and lost his wicket scoring only four runs.

S Sriram joined Kanitkar after the fall of Nikhil and the two took the team score to 233 for three at tea with kanitkar 102 and Sriram 32 runs. After tea, the pair kept the score-board moving and recorded century partnership for the fourth wicket.

Sriram then declared lbw on a Malhotra delivery. He made 45 runs which includes four fours, when the team score was 281 runs. Captain Sairaj Bahutule joined Kanitkar after Sriram's fall. But the pair added only seven runs when Kanitkar was declared lbw off Ablish. He scored 131 runs with 14 fours.

Then onwards Sairaj accompanied Yogesh Takwale played without lossing any further wicket till the end of the play with 15 and 07 runs respectively.

This was kanitkar's 21st Ranji century and 25th first class hundred.
