State govt proposes opening of eight border markets
Agartala, Dec 19 (UNI) Tripura government has proposed to the Centre for opening eight markets on the Bangladesh border as it is surrounded by the neighbouring country in three sides.
State Chief Minister Manik Sarkar told the state assembly that there were proposal for setting up eight border markets in all the four districts of the state to develop trade with Bangladesh. The state government has requested the Union government to set up such trade centres in bordering areas of this North Eastern state.
Proposal for setting up of border markets were three in west district's Boxanagar, Kamalasagar and Bamutia, two in south district's Srinagar and Ekimpur, two in north district's Raghna and Hirachara and one in Dhalai district's Kamalpur, the Chief Minister said replying to a question by Congress Ratan Lal Nath.
