Sri Venkateswara University students attack VC's car
Tirupati, Dec 18 (UNI) Tension prevailed at Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) when students attacked the Vice Chancellor's car after returning from a function from the varsity campus today evening.
A mob of about 200 students attacked VC Jayarama Reddy's car after attending the chemistry department function. They also offended the varsity registrar and rector.
The students were demanding withdrawal of false cases about watching abusive movies in the hostel.
The mob was disbursed after police intervention.
The police, meanwhile, have given protection to the VC and other officials.
The police had arrested four PG students and seized CDs and DVD players from the hostel when the students were watching films last night, Sub Inspector Joghan Mohan told UNI here.
In view of the incident, as precautionary measures, the university has closed all seven colleges including hostels except engineering colleges, indefinitely from tomorrow, University Registrar C K Mohan said.
