Shivika wins her Jr Singles title in Africa

Kolkata, Dec 19 (UNI) Kolkata girl Shivika Burman won her second consecutive title in Africa.

Playing the ITF East Africa Circuit, Kenya-2006 at the Nairobi Club, Shivika, the second seed, beat Jessica Sabeshinskaja of Germany 7-6(7-2),6-1 in the second round.

In the pre-quarter finals she beat eighth seeded South African Christine Masite 6-2,6-2. Semi Finals saw Shivika Burman take out the third seeded South African Nicole Smith 7-5,6-2.

In the final Shivika beat fourth seeded Hannah James from Germany 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, according to information received here.

With these two ITF singles title in her pocket, the Bengal girl is now looking for a place in the qualifying draw of the Australian Open Juniors in January 2007.
