RS adjourned over issue of Women Reservation Bill

New Delhi, Dec 19: The Rajya Sabha witnessed uproarious scenes on the last day of its winter session today as women members expressed their agitation over the non-introduction of the Women Reservation Bill in the House.

The clamour forced adjournment of the House for 10 minutes.

As soon as BJP member Sushma Swaraj stood up in the Zero Hour to speak on the issue, women Members from the Congress, CPI(M) and other parties demanded to be allowed to express their views, which the Chair rejected, saying that their notice had not been accepted.

This led to an uproar.

Deputy Chairperson K Rehman Khan's repeated appeals failed to pacify them, and finally he decided to adjoiurn the House for ten minutes till 1230 hrs.
