Rape accused remanded to police custody

Mumbai, Dec 19 (UNI) A coaching class instructor, accused of raping a minor girl, was today remanded in seven days police custody.

The accused, Sachin Walvelar (28), was arrested yesterday from Gandhi Nagar, Wadala in south-central Mumbai for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl. He was produced before a Metropolitan Magistrate at Bhoiwada who remanded him in police custody.

The victim used to go for coaching at accused Sachin Walvekar's class situated at Gandhi Nagar slum area in south-central Mumbai.

When the victim came for tuition yesterday afternoon, the accused lured her by giving chocolate and took her in a class room and sexually assaulted, police said.

When the victim did not return home in the evening, her mother began search for the girl. She later found the victim in unconscious state in the classroom. The mother had lodged a complaint with the Wadala police station.
