PIL on BMIC project admitted

Bangalore, Dec 19 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today admitted a public interest litigation filed by the All India Manufacturers Organisation, seeking for a direction to the State Government to implement the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project forthwith as per the Framework Agreement.

Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice B S Patil said the court was, however, not inclined to entertain the petition in so far as the other prayers of the petitioner were concerned, seeking a direction to the Government not to proceed with any other project till the BMIC project was executed and to appoint an expert committee to execute the same.

The petitioner contended that even 18 months after the Supreme Court pronounced its order, the Government had not made any progress in the implementation of the BMIC. However, the Government had proposed to execute various other infrastructure projects involving acquisition of vast extents of Government land and issued G.O, showing scant respect for the court order, it submitted.

The case was directed to be posted after a month.
