People have freedom to express views on regional plan-2011:CM
Panaji, Dec 19 (UNI) Refusing to comment on yesterday's massive ''Goa Bachao Movement'' demanding scrapping of the ''destructive'' Regional Plan-2011, Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane said the people have every right to express their views on any subject.
Talking to UNI on the sidelines of the 46th Goa Liberation Day celebrations at Campal Parade ground here today, the CM said he could not offer any comment now that the issue was pending in the Bombay High Court bench at Panaji.
A campaign launched by several groups of non-government organisations and prominent citizens set January 15 next as the deadline for scrapping the ''retrograde'' Regional Plan, which according to them, would deface Goa's original shape and its fragile environment.
The organisers demanded reformulation of the plan involving all the stake holders including local bodies through a democratic process to keep Goa alive for future generations and urged Governor S C Jamir, through a signature campaign, to scrap the current plan forthwith.
