Passenger held for puffing on board aircraft

Chennai, Dec 19 (UNI) A 45-year-old airpassenger was arrested on the charge of smoking on board a Delhi-Chennai Deccan Airlines flight last night.

According to police, A Javid Ahad, owner of a leather garment unit from Uttar Pradesh went to the toilet area and started smoking which was noticed by the pilot through a close circuit camera.

Despite the pilot repeatedly informing him that puffing on board was prohibited, the passenger not only kept on smoking the cigarette till the end, but also justified his action by arguing heatedly with the pilot.

When the plane landed at the airport here around midnight, the pilot handed over the passenger to the CISF, who handed him to the local police.

Police arrested the man.
