Over 96000 Haje pilgrims in Saudi Arabia: Haj Committee
New Delhi, Dec 19 (UNI) The Haj Committee of India today said over 96,000 pilgrims have reached Saudi Arabia.
In a statement issued here, Haj Committee Chairman Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi said a total of 15 embarkation points were functioning to airlift the pilgrims from the country to Saudi Arabia out of which nine points are closed after completing the job.
However, six embarkation points--Srinagar, Kolkata, Patna, Guwahati, jaipur and Mumbai were still operating.
He said arrangements will also be made for another 200 pilgrims from Delhi, 95 from Chennai, 90 from Hyderabad and 100 from Ahmedabad.
Passes for remaining pilgrims have been submitted to the Consulate General of Saudi Arabia which should be released and returned within 2 to 3 days.
Two additional flights, one each from Delhi and Ahmedabad, will help to take the remaining Hajes to Saudi Arabia, Mr Saradgi said.
