Opposition demand CBI probe BIT student's death
Ranchi, Dec 19 (UNI) Jharkhand Assembly was adjourned today during zero hour after the opposition BJP legislators rushed into the well, seeking permission to move an adjournment motion for CBI probe on the death of Birla institute technology student Abhishek Mishra.
The issue was raised by BJP MLA Chandresh Oraon after the commencement of zero hour.
The opposition members, rigid on their demand, also shouted anti-government slogans and demonstrated placards, demanding a CBI inquiry into the incident.
Mr Oraon, joined by other party MLAs, also sat on the floor near Speaker's chair, demanding adjournment motion, which was not accepted by the presiding officer.
Criticising the opposition, Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahto said the incident reflected that opposition was without any issue for the Winter session.
''Instead of creating disturbances, the Opposition should cooperate in smooth functioning, ''he said adding the session itself was of short period.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Stephen Marandi, who also holds the Finance Ministry, placed the second supplementry budget in the house.
