Music lovers set to drown in divine bliss
Chennai, Dec 19 (UNI) Music lovers are set to drown themselves in divine bliss as great saint-composer Thyagaraja's Aradhana, being celebrated in the Tamil month of 'Margazhi' at Thiruvaiyaru in Thanjavur district, will be replicated in this metropolis for the second consecutive year.
'Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru,' the five-day music festival to be held from December 22 to 26, is aimed at providing a forum for established musicians and young aspirants to exhibit their musical talents.
Led by renowned vocalist P S Narayanaswamy, musicians and music enthusiasts will render 'Pancha Ratna Kritis,' considered among the finest of 'sahityams,' on the inaugural day.
The five songs, composed by saint Thyagaraja in praise of Lord Rama, are rendered by musicians all over the world on Thyaga Brahma Aradhana day held in January every year.
The stage will be a replica of the Thyagaraja Aradhanai Mandapam at Thiruvaiyaru and will accommodate about 300 artistes.
Acclaimed vocalists Sowmya, Unni Krishnan, Mahathi, saxaphone exponent Kadri Gopalnath and violinists Mysore Nagaraj Manjunath, M Lalitha and M Nandhini are among those who will perform during the festival.
The music mela is jointy organised by Lakshman Sruthi Musicals, Kalalaya USA, Nataka Academy and Rotary Club of Madras Mount.
