MP Govt to frame policy on Yoga
Bhopal, Dec 19 (UNI) A unique policy on Yoga will be announced by the Madhya Pradesh government on January 25 next year when the school students across the state will perform 'Suryanamaskar', Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.
Students from classes 5 to 12 will participate in Suryanamaskar at 0900 hours on that day. Private institutions will also be urged to participate in the programme being organised by the School Education department.
A decision in this regard was taken here yesterday by the Chief Minister in the presence of Yoga Guru Baba Ramdevi, who plans to set up Patanjali Yog Kendra in Madhya Pradesh.
Mr Chouhan said the policy on Yoga was being framed keeping in view the people's health as the benefits of Yoga were being recognised globally.
Baba Ramdev said research activities would be carried out at the Yoga Kendra, where herbal medicines would also be processed.
Cultivation of medicinal plants and health tourism would be promoted, he said, adding about 1,000 hectare land would be required for the Kendra. After full expansion of activities, the Kendra would purchase herbs worth Rs 400 crore annually from the farmers.
