Megh govt stresses on micro credit
Shillong, Dec 19 (UNI) Meghalaya Minister in-charge Social Welfare Martle N Mukhim has stressed the need to create micro credit and micro financing to promote Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the state.
Inaugurating the Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) and one-day Meet-Cum-Exhibition-Cum-Sales of Work of the SHG here recently, Mr Mukhim urged the upon the NGOs and old SHGs of the state to form a cluster to promote SHG while stating that the core of SHG movement is share and care.
Mr Mukhim also assured that proper support would be given to the NGOs who are taking active part in giving awareness to the people.
''Sincerity, dedication and selflessness are the need of the hour for the SHGs,'' he added.
Mrs V Sharma, Representative Ministry of Rural Development informed that SGSY is one of the major self-help programmes being undertaken by the Ministry of Rural Development.
Adding that marketing plays a very crucial factor in the success of the programme, she called upon the SHGs to give more emphasis on packaging and labeling of their products to enable it to compete with other market products.
Underlining that permanent marketing infrastructure should be created, she urged upon the SHGs to be more innovative and create more products every year to attract the buyers.
