Man crushed under tractor over festival-related enmity

Hoshiarpur, Dec 19 (UNI) A man was crushed to under a tractor death by a group of neighbours over an almost an year-old quarrel, at Adda Nasrala near here, police today said.

According to the victim's father Tasveer Singh, his son Gurtej had accompanied him on his scooter to Adda Nasrala last night to buy medicines and was waiting for him to come out of the shop when half-a-dozen men, hailing from their village Haidrowal, arrived on a tractor and started abusing his son.

Though Gurtej tried to escape, Davinder, Kirpal, Harpal, Bindu, Bhinda and Gondi allegedly crushed him under the tractor.

After killing him, they escaped under the cover of darkness, police said.

There was an old enmity between the deceased and the accused over a quarrel on last Lohri festival in the village, the police said.

Sadar Police has registered a case under section 302 of the IPC against the accused and launched a search to nab them.
