Mumbai, Dec 19: Mahindra&Mahindra Auto Sector's Zaheerabadand Kandivli facilities have bagged the 2nd Prize in the NationalEnergy Conservation Award 2006 in the Automobile segment.
Both the units received a trophy and a certificate recognizing theefforts made by the company for conservation of energy resources, saida M&M release.
The award was given away by Union Power Minister Sushil KumarShinde at a function in New Delhi on December 14, which is NationalEnergy Conservation Day. A range of top automotive majors were also inthe reckoning for the award.
Mr. Rajan Wadhera, Executive Vice President, M&M (Operations)said, ''The coveted award is due to the untiring efforts of all theemployees working at our plant. It is a great moment of pride for theMahindra Group.'' Instituted by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE)under the auspices of the Government of India, the Energy ConservationAward employs an exhaustive two-phased judgment procedure. The NECaward is unique in it that the winner is selected on the basis of bothresults accrued to the company and employee participation inconservation efforts.
