Lok Sabha adjourned Sine Die

New Delhi, Dec 19 (UNI) Lok Sabha was today adjourned sine die after Speaker Somnath Chatterjee made a fervent appeal to the Members to ensure that the time of the House was not wasted on unnecessary adjournments or in any other manner.

Listing the important business transacted by the House during the Winter Session, Mr Chatterjee said that for effective functioning of Parliamentary democracy, the participation of the Opposition was imperative.

''While conceding a member's right to ventilate his views on any particular issue, I would like to emphasise that there was no better alternative or substitute other than a structured discussion on the floor of the House within the parametres of the Rules of Procedure,'' Mr Chatterjee said.
