LeT chief killed, RDX recovered, hideout busted in J

Srinagar, Dec 19 (UNI) A top commander of Pakistan-based Lashker-e- Toiba (LeT) was killed, a hideout busted and RDX recovered by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesman said.

He said security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police killed Abdullah alias A A, a chief of LeT, in an encounter at Mohi Mohalla in the frontier district of Kupwara.

The encounter ensued after a joint search party was attacked by the militants.

An ak rifle, five magzines and 40 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the slain commander.

Abdullah, a resident of Pakistan, was responsible for recruiting Kashmiri boys and later sending them to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) for receiving arms training.

He said a house was also damaged in the encounter.

Police busted a hideout at Talward and recovered one wireless set, 108 rounds of ammunition, three ak magzines, four UBGLs and incriminating documents. However, no one was arrested.

Security forces recovered one kg RDX, two UBGL grenades and 68 rounds of ammunition at Chila Dinga last night.
