Kalam calls for entrepreneurial curriculum in engg colleges
Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, Dec 19 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today urged the technical education institutions to design an entrepreneurial curriculum to facilitate an additional entrepreneurship diploma for the students along with a Diploma in engineering.
Delivering his address at the inauguration of golden jubilee celebrations of Nachimuthu Polytechnic College here, he said students across the country dreamed to become engineers, doctors, scientists.
Only a few wanted to become entrepreneurs.
''This emphasises the need to create an aptitude among the youth for taking up entrepreneurship which will enable them to become employment providers rather than employment seekers'', he said.
''The economic progress of developed countries is due to the contribution of small entrepreneurs employing less than 50 persons in establishments. The country needs such entrepreneurs in large numbers for developing and transforming our village clusters into sustainable economic units'', Dr Kalam noted.
