Iran gas pipeline deal very much on: Pranab

New Delhi, Dec 19: External Affairs Minister Pranab KumarMukherjee today asserted that the gas pipeline deal with Iran was notoff but was very much under the consideration of the Government andrelationship with any nation was independent and country-specific,having no bearing on its link with another nation.

Replying to the apprehensions raised in Rajya Sabha about thefuture of the pipeline, Mr Mukherjee said the progress in Indo-USNuclear Dal did not have any impact on India's relationship with Iranwith whom the country had 'civilisational links'.

He said the pipeline deal was facing difficulty after Iran soughtrevision in price and the deal was very much on. Certainly, a projectof such nature would require finances from multilateral agencies and itwas under consideration, he clarified.
