INTUC to support bandh: Cong,CPI(ML)-L not to support or oppose
Kolkata, Dec 19 (UNI) The Congress labour wing Indian National Trade Union Congress(INTUC) would support the Trinamool Congress(TMC) sponsored 48-hour ''Bangla Bandh'', while the Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee and the CPI(ML)-Liberation would neither support nor oppose it.
'' INTUC will whole heartedly support the TMC called 48-hour Bangla Bandh and all our workers would try their best to make the bandh successful,'' INTUC president Subrata Mukherjee told newspersons here today.
He also criticised the government for late announcement of the CBI inquiry into the unnatural death of Tapasi Mallik at Singur and said the government had manipulated the post-mortem report. The CBI inquiry would also be false, he claimed.
West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee working president Pradip Bhattacharjee said his party would not support or oppose the bandh.
'' We think that this bandh would create problems to the people and the labourers. Life has been affected badly with so many bandhs held in the last few days and with the festive season round the corner,'' he stated.
CPI(ML)-Liberation demanded judicial inquiry into the unnatural death of the 18-year old girl at Singur.
'' The bandh issue is too sensitive and several bandhs have been held over the past few days. So we have decided not to support or oppose the TMC-called Bangla Bandh on December 21 and 22,'' CPI(ML)-Liberation state secretary Katick Pal told newsmen here.
CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose described the bandh as ''issueless'' and appealed to the people to reject it.
