Guru Satam aides booked under MCOCA
Mumbai, Dec 19 (UNI) Five aides of underworld don Guru Satam's gang were today booked under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in connection with an extortion case.
MCOCA Judge M R Bhatkar granted police custody, till December 28, to all the five, since police required their custodial interrogation to find out more details of their unlawful activities and trace other witnesses and accused in this case.
As per the complaint registered before the anti-extortion cell of DCB-CID by a Malad based builder, police initially arrested Chandra Sekhar Rao on December 7, Bhushan Ramchandra Satam the next day and Hemant Pandurang Raut, Naresh Krishna Parab and Vilas Eknath Velankar on December 16 under various sections of IPC in demanding an extortion amount of Rs five lakhs from the builder.
However during the course of investigation, it was found that accused were members of an organised crime syndicate, headed by accused Guru Satam and hence they were booked under MCOCA after obtaining necessary approval from the competent authority.
