For Sanjay Dutt, SMS stands for his lawyer Satish Maneshinde
Mumbai, Dec 19 (UNI) Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt has abbreviated the name of his attorney Satish Maneshinde as SMS, as was revealed during the proceedings of the TADA court, which today extended the surrender deadline of the actor-convict in the 1993 serial bomb blasts case to December 21.
An impatient Dutt, who had to spend close to three hours in the court and was found repeatedly huddled with Maneshinde's junior Kiran Singh, was heard saying to him ''I have told my problem to the SMS''. When media persons asked Singh what SMS stood for, he quipped ''Satish Maneshinde''.
When judge Pramod Kode, while asking Maneshinde to proceed with his arguments, queried where was his client, Dutt, who had been changing his place in the court room frequently, stood up to identify himself.
The actor's plea for extending the surrender deadline until the final verdict was delivered or when the court deemed it fit was taken up at around 1230 hrs, one and a half hour after Dutt, clad in blue shirt and blue denim, came to the court.
Shinde argued for an hour, while CBI counsel Ujwal Nikam said the prosecution would file its reply on Thursday. The judge then adjourned the matter to December 21.
