Direct taxes increase by RSQ 40.12 per cent this fiscal

New Delhi, Dec 19 (UNI) The direct tax collections during April to November 2006 had increased by 40.12 per cent over the collections made during the corresponding period last year, Rajya Sabha was informed today.

In a written reply to questions in the House, Minister of State for Finance S S Palanimanikam said the direct tax collections during the period was Rs 1,00,135 crore compared to Rs 71,464 crores collected during 2005.
