Defence officials seek inputs in Doha for Military Games

Dubai, Dec 19 (UNI) A team of top defence officials from India is on a visit to the Qatari capital of Doha to pick up tips and valuable inputs from recently concluded Asian Games in order to make the 2007 Military World Games in Hyderabad a great success.

Organised by the International Military Sports Council (CISM), the next Games held every four years is expected to draw participants from 100 countries.

Leader of the Indian observer team to the Doha Games D S Varma told 'The Peninsula' they were impressed with the way the Qatari officials had organised the Asian Games.

The CISM, which was founded in 1948 in Nice, France, has been sending teams to major sporting events around the world to gain organisational skills.

There will be 15 disciplines in the Hyderabad events such as boxing, wrestling, judo, sailing, shooting, hockey and kabaddi.

Varma said the level of the competition is very high as 25 per cent of the participants are Olympic gold medalists.
