CPI(M) terms 48-hour Bandh call as 'non issue'
Kolkata, Dec 19 (UNI) Ruling Left Front Chairman and CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose today termed as ''non issue'' the reason for calling a 48-hour Bangla Bandh by the Trinamool Congress and called upon the people to foil it by all means.
Severely criticing the Trinamol Congress for trying to disrupt public life by sponsoring second state-wide bandh within a month, Mr Bose also asked Mamata Banerjee to make direct contact with the government and sit for a meaningful dialogue with Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee to bring an end to the present imbroglio on the Singur issue, instead of making statements through the news media.
Welcoming the positive move of the chief minister in accepting the opposition's demand for a CBI inquiry into the rape and murder of Tapasi Mullick (19), daugher of a Singur farmer yesterday, the Front Chairman ridiculed the Trinamool Congress supremo for suddenly shifting her previous stand.
He also urged the public to foil the the bandh and maintain normal life and carry forward the industrial rejuvenation of the state.
BJP in West Bengal has, however, extended its full support to the 48-hour bandh and asked party supporters to help ensure its all round success.
