CPI condemns arrests
Hyderabad, Dec 19 (UNI) The Communist Party of India state unit today condemned the arrest of State Secretary K Narayanan and 54 others in Visakhapatnam and lathicharge on women cadre in Ananthapur.
State Executive Committee Member K Ramakrishna in a statement alleged police had filed cases against party leaders and workers who were conducting state-wide protests demanding the government to supply essential commodites at reasonable prices.
He demanded the government to take measures to control the prices of essential commodities.
Though the government had assured to procure 30,000 tonne of red gram through the Market Federation, it failed to do to so, he claimed.
Mr Ramakrishna rpt Ramakrishna demanded the government to withdraw police cases against the State Secretary and others.
