Court grants interim bail to Arun Gawli's wife

Mumbai, Dec 19 (UNI) A local court here today granted interim anticipatory bail to the wife of gangster-turned-legislator Arun Gawli in connection with her alleged involvement in a forgery and cheating case.

Additional Sessions Judge B M Jethani granted, interim bail to Asha Arun Gawli and two others on an bail plea moved by them in this regard.

The Court, however, directed them to be present before the economic offences wing for two hours between 1600 hrs to 1800 hrs daily from today till the investigation was over.

The Judge also directed the prosecution to file their latest investigation report by December 22.

In the FIR lodged by police on October 2, the names included Arun Gawli, who was arrested on December two and bailed out the next day, his wife Asha and two of his associates Sunil Dutta Kaleka and Vijay Gulab Gavli.

Prosecution case was that the Akhil Bharatiya Kamgar Sena, run by Gawli, had received Rs four crore from a construction company to be distributed among the retrenched employees as per the negotiations he had with the management.

However, a complaint registered against Gawli and three others alleged that he had siphoned off Rs 85 lakh from the funds for disbursement to the workers.
