Congress needs to strengthen in N.E: Apang

Shillong, Dec 19 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Gegong Apang has urged Congress leaders in North Eastern states to strengthen their party at all level to fight against the other national and regional political parties.

''The North East Congress Committee needs to meet and adopt strategies to boost the party's image,'' Mr Apang told UNI at Arunachal Bhawan here.

Mr Apang's statement assumed significance in the wake of Manipur going to poll early next year as well as the Congress defeats in the just concluded by-election in Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.

The Congress leaders from this region need to analyse the party's performance in the polls, the Congress leader said, stressing the need of understanding and co-ordination of party workers from the region.
