CIT inaugurated, check gate foundation laid by Asom CM
Kokrajhar, Dec 19 (UNI) The Central Institute of Technology (CIT), first institute of its kind in Asom and third in the country, was inaugurated here today by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.
The CIT, located in the Kokrajhar campus of the Gauhati University, has been set up as a clause of the Bodo Accord.
Inaugurating the Institute, Mr Gogoi said the CIT would help in producing a specialised work force in the state in keeping with the demand of present day industries.
He assured that the medical college at Kokrajhar would be set up soon, as the health sector needed more qualified personnel.
Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary, also speaking on the occasion, said that with the inauguration of the CIT an important clause of the Bodo Accord had been implemented.
The chief minister, earlier, laid the foundation for a composite check gate at Srirampur in the inter-state border with West Bengal.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gogoi said the main aim of the composite check gate was to increase revenue collection, necessary for the economic development of the state.
