CBI probe report in Kerala passenger bribery case submitted
New Delhi, Dec 19 (UNI) The CBI has completed its investigation into the reported demand and acceptance of bribes from passengers coming from abroad by Customs and Central Excise officials of Karipur airport, Kozhikode, Minister of State for Finance S S Palanimanickam said today.
The Minister told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply that the report recommending prosecution against 36 Customs and Central Excise officials, of whom one was an A grade officer and 12 B grade officers, under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, had been submitted.
The CBI, he said, has also recommended regular department action for major penalty against 23 officials (12 Group C and 11 Group D) of the department under CCS (CCA) Rules, 1965.
Necessary follow up action on the CBI's recommendations have already been initiated, he added.
