Bamboo technology for house construction
Kottayam, Dec 19 (UNI) Thellakom based Archana Women's Centre, under Jyothi Jeeva Poorna Trust introducers of women masonry system in Kerala, has proved that women can take up bamboo technology for their development.
Addressing a press conference here today Archana Women's Centre Director Thresiamma Mathew said bamboo technology was a new approach for development.
Mr Peter Hogan Burg and Dr Edwin from Holland were imparting training in bamboo technology at the centre. The centre was constructing a bamboo house at Thellakom. It was attracting a lot of people.
Mr Peter Hogan Burg, who was also present at the press conference, said the introduction of 'bamboo technology' would be helpful for the promotion of international tourism in the state.
"Foreigners prefers to stay in bamboo houses. Bamboo technology is environment-friendly and facilitates low cost house construction", he said.
