Azad for minerals to generate opportunities in J

Jammu, Dec 19 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today called for local value addition to the rich mineral resources of the state by encouraging ventures in the areas rich in specific raw material.

Urgeing to take advantage of symbiotic relations between investors and the state, Mr Azad said in lieu of liberal incentives from the state, industrialists have to reciprocate by opening door of greater employment opportunities for locals both in skilled and semi-skilled disciplines.

Reviewing the functioning and modus operandi of translating people and investor-friendly policy in force during a presentation session on industrial sector here, he said need of the hour was to take investors to the rural and industrially backward areas.

''This would write a new chapter on socio-economic and employment generation slate of the state and help realise the goal of prosperity,'' he said.

Mr Azad said there should be constant and well-knit rapport between industrialists and government functionaries at all levels to understand each others requirement on various front.

''Industrialists require great number of skilled and semi-skilled personnel like electricians, plumbers, motor mechanics, operators and other technical hands which could easily be provided to them.

However, regarding the demand for trained personnel, industries department could obtain the list and accordingly train youth so that they are easily absorbed in different industries,'' he said.

The Chief Minister also said handloom and handicrafts, the highest revenue generator and employment providing sectors, require attention.
