Athi Rudra Maha Yagnam from Jan 19

Chennai, Dec 19 (UNI) Godman Sathya Sai Baba would be in the city on the auspicious occasion of 'Athi Rudra Maha Yagnam,' organised by Sai Youth of Tamil Nadu from January 19 to 30.

It was during August 2006, when the Sai youth of Karnataka conducted Adi Rudra Maha Yagnam at Puttaparthi, that Sai Baba, on the concluding day, had declared that Rudra Yagnam would be performed in the city, Sai Sathiya Sai Trust of Tamil Nadu convener G K Raman said in a press release here.

He said the Maha yagna would commence in the afternoon of January 19 and from the second day onwards, chanting of Rudrams and Homam would be conducted by learned Rithviks and Linga abhisekam would also be performed.

''The unique and rare feature of Adi Rudra Yagna is that it is performed with 11 Homa kundams with 140 Rithviks well versed in Vedas chanting rudras. Music programmes would be held every evening by renowned mucicians and lectures by eminent scholars, he said.
