AINEF welcomes announcement of Journalist wage board

New Delhi, Dec 19 (UNI) The All India Newspaper Employees Federation today welcomed the decision of the Union Cabinet to constitute a wage board for journalists and non-journalist employees in the country.

In a statement issued here, AINEF said,''the newspaper workers were eagerly waiting for the Government announcement.For, sky rocketing prices have heavily eroded the real wages of the newspaper industry.'' The federation demanded that the wage board start functioning immediately so that interim relief could be given to the employees.

It also demanded the immediate setting up of a media commission to look into the entire media scene that had undergone a sea change since the last press commission submitted its report two decades ago.
