4 students held for watching porn film, tension in varsity campus

Tirupati, Dec 19 (UNI) Tension prevailed at the Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) Campus here last night following the arrest of four post-graduate students on the charge of watching pornographic films at hostel.

Based on information, police raided the hostel and arrested the students. They seized CDs and DVD player, University Campus Police Station Sub-Inspector Jagan Mohan Reddy told UNI here today.

Tension gripped the campus as agitated students attacked Vice-Chancellor S Jayarama Reddy's car while he was returning from a function last night.

They sought his intervention in for the release of the students which Mr Reddy refused.

Irked students then locked him up along with varsity registrar, rector and faculty.

After information, police rushed to the spot and dispersed the students. The Vice- Chancellor and others were safely escorted out of the campus.

The students were produced before the court today.

In view of the prevailing situation, all seven colleges of the university including the hostels, were closed indefinitely from today except the engineering college, University Registrar C K Mohna told UNI.
