15 Kg explosives seized, one person arrested

Madikeri, Dec 19 (UNI) Police have seized 15 kg of explosives, hidden in a farm house, and arrested one person in this connection.

On getting information, Circle Inspector Vasanth and his team raided the estate of K K Thangappa at Hardoor and seized explosive powder with gelatin sticks, stored illegally by one Kharim, who is now absconding.

Superintendent of Police stated that the explosive powder-- found to be ammonium nitrate-- has no link to any subversive activities and the same was being used as a fertiliser by agriculturists. Kharim however was planning to use it to blow up stones, which was not allowed.
