Rohani-Vishnoi DMET tussle hots up

Bhopal, Dec 18 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi, who is having an eyeball-to-eyeball confrontation with Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani over the Dental and Medical Entrance Test issue, today said that he had written to Mr Rohani ''reminding'' the latter to furnish evidence on the DMET case.

''I had even dispatched my resignation to the Chief Minister (Shivraj Singh Chouhan). I am adamant on my demand for proof on the alleged irregularities in the test to private medical and dental colleges. The Speaker had said he would furnish evidence,'' Mr Vishnoi told mediapersons at his residence here.

Pointing out that the government had moved the High Court and the Supreme Court in this regard, he added that the regime was aggrieved by the accusations.

Amidst a volley of questions, the minister declined to make any further comment on the matter.

On August 13, 2006, DMET was conducted here and at other places for more than 1,000 seats in eight dental and three medical colleges. The test became the focus of disputes in view of complaints such as questionpaper leak and use of pencils in place of pens in answer booklets.
