Polio yet to be stamped out in MP
Guna, MP, Dec 18 (UNI) Though the incidence of polio has declined in Madhya Pradesh, the crippling ailment is yet to be stamped out from the state, claims a surgeon from the Visakhapatnam-based Polio Corrective Surgical and Research Foundation.
''Comparatively, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have many more cases.
For polio eradication cent per cent administering of drops to children is imperative. Maintaining awareness in every community, particularly minorities, is crucial,'' Dr Adinarayana Rao said here yesterday.
Claiming that the Foundation successfully undertook corrective surgery on about three lakh patients, he added that the beneficiaries included those from America, South Africa, Bangladesh, Norway and the United Kingdom.
The surgeon was here to take part in a free two-day camp on polio corrective surgery at the district hospital. Until yesterday, 85 patients were earmarked for operations.
