NTR figures in AP House debate
Hyderabad, Dec 18 (UNI) Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N T Rama Rao figured twice in the State Assembly today.
Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, intervening in the debate on the issue concerning his land, referred to the TDP founder's initial opposition to the Land Ceiling Act so much that the noted thespian even directed a film against the Act. Subsequently, he had a change of heart and concurred with the view that land should be distributed to the poor.
When the Opposition party members disrupted the proceedings of the House demanding that Leader of Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu be allowed to speak first before the Leader of the House could speak, again the name of the actor-turned politician was invoked by Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah to have a dig at the TDP.
Pleading with the Speaker K R Suresh Reddy to allow him to speak, Mr Naidu asked was there any precedence or convention to deny him a chance when he wanted to contribute his part in the debate.
At this, Mr Rosaiah recalled that when Mr Rama Rao stepped down from office, he was not allowed to make his submission by a section of the TDP, who raised a banner of revolt and formed a new Government under Mr Naidu.
