N P Singh calls it a day

Hyderabad, Dec 18 (UNI) Hyderabad medium pacer Narender Pal Singh today announced his retirement from first class cricket to give way to youngsters in the Ranji Trophy.

Having played 101 first class matches, including 97 Ranji Trophy matches, his decision comes at a time when youngsters who replaced him excelled by restricting Mumbai at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium here.

Speaking to UNI here, Singh said he had no regrets in not completeing 100 Ranji matches. He was happy with his decision as it had come after consulting his family members.

He played 101 matches and scored 1,535 runs with 74 being the highest. Singh had taken 319 wickets with an average of 26.95 with seven for 24 against Rajasthan three years ago being his best.

Hyderabad Cricket Association Secretary Shivlal Yadav said considering his vast bowling experience, they would utilise his services in the future.
