N E Agriculture ministers meet in Shillong

Shillong, Dec 18 (UNI) The 18th meeting of the Regional Committee of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will be held on December 20 and 21 at the ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam.

Director General of ICAR Dr Mangala Rai will preside over the meeting, which the Ministers of Agriculture and allied sectors of the member states, commissioners, secretaries and directors of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries from various states and agencies will attend.

The meeting will take stock of the research programmes carried out for two years in terms of technologies generated and their dissemination, relevance of the research programmes in the light of changing needs of the society, areas uncovered which needs to be included, better research-development-processing-industry-financing bodies-NGOs tie up and for the development of agriculture in the region.

The inputs received from the various members in these meetings help in framing research policies specific to the region.
