MP Govt to merge 50 pc DA with salary
Indore, Dec 18 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government has approved in principle for merging 50 per cent dearness allowance to the basic salary of state government employees.
Finance Minister Raghavji, while addressing a programme organised on the occasion of the Pensioner's Day here yesterday, said action would be taken in this direction soon.
The Adhikari Karmchari Sangharsh Morcha had threatened to go on statewide agitation on December 19 over their eight-point demand, including merging 50 per cent dearness allowance with the basic salary.
Regarding power generation, Mr Raghavji said the state would become self-reliant in this sector in the next one-and-half years.
He said the financial health of the state was better because it had not incurred overdraft once in the past two-and-half years.
He pointed out that the budget for road, irrigation, education, health and tourism was increased nearly 1.5 or two times despite the fact that no new tax was imposed.
The Finance Minister said the Centre had provided additional funds to the state due to its better financial management.
