Mercury dips despite Sunny day in northwest plains
Chandigarh, Dec 18 (UNI) The minimum temperature hovered between one to four degree celsius below normal at many places in North West region, though the day remained bright in the plains.
In Chandigarh, the mercury was two degree below normal at 4.6 degree celcius, while in the hill resort of Shimla, it continued to be five degrees above normal at 8.8.
In Himachal, Bhuntar was normal at 1.4 degree celsius, Sundernagar recorded 1.2 degrees while Kalpa in Kinnaur district was minus one degree celsius.
In Punjab, the holy city of Amritsar was shivering at one degree below normal and in Ludhiana the temperature was four degree below normal at 3.4. Patiala was comfortable at the normal of seven degrees.
The mercury recorded one degree below normal at 6.8 at Karnal while in Ambala it was at 6.6 degrees, and 9 degrees at Hisar in Haryana.
A partly cloudy day was likely in Himachal Pradesh tomorrow while a sunny day with mist or fog during night and morning was expected in Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh, the weatherman said.
