'leaders must think beyond conventional challenges' :Tyagi
Nagpur, Dec. 18 (UNI) Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal S P Tyagi today said the country's political leaders must think about the strategic interests and not confine themselves to conventional challenges.
Inaugurating the three-day annual commanders' conference of the Maintenance Command of the Indian Air Force (IAF) here, ACM Tyagi said tactical vision was not restricted to geographical boundaries, but encompassed the nation's wider strategic interests.
The leadership must assure the nation of continued peace and stability to achieve the desired economic growth, he said, according to a defence press release.
Commanders at all levels in the IAF must realise the strategic mission of the force with respect to the change in the concept of war in the global scenario and the nation's economic might, Tyagi said.
Air Marshal K S Chaturvedi, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command, spoke about the steps that had been initiated to provide effective maintenance support to the force.
